Your Fathering Legacy – Part 2

Write Down Your Legacy Now!

In my last post, I raised with you the idea of firmly establishing your fathering legacy. The first question you may have is. “Okay, does this really work?

Fortunately, the answer is found in the first two verses of Psalms 112. “Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who finds great delight in is commands. His children will be mighty in the land; each generation of the upright will be blessed.”

Note that if YOU fear the Lord and delight in His commands, then you have the promise that your children will be mighty in the land. God will reward the father who establishes a godly fathering legacy.

My friend, being a father is not just another job on the long list of jobs that you have been assigned. Rather, it is a way to affect countless people and not just your direct descendants, but ALL the people that they influence as well. Thus, you can impact literally thousands of lives in the future through what you pour into your children’s lives.

In short, you can leave a mark on this world that is beyond your wildest hopes and dreams. Now contrast that your work. What long-run impact will that really have?

So if you want true greatness, don’t look for a promotion or fame or power or wealth. Look instead for godliness – and a lot of time invested in your children.

Dad, I am asking you to invest your life in that which will really last. Only two things are eternal: the word of God and people. Your children are eternal – and your grandchildren, and so forth down through the generations.

So begin RIGHT NOW to write down what you wish to leave as your fathering legacy. There’s nothing more significant that you can do as a father.
