Great Dads began presenting its training seminar “The 6 Basics of Being a Great Dad” in July 1997.  Dads in the very beginning were enthusaistic about it – and that enthusiasm has continued to the present day.

The seminar training has been our “bread and butter” offering.  All of the hundreds of different organizations that have hosted the seminar have been very pleased with it. Many of our Associates who present the training have been involved with other fatherhood training, and they state categorically that our training is the very best available.

Most powerful is the testimony of the over 53,000 dads who have taken it  These dads of all types – young and old, rich and poor, inner city or suburb (or rural), all ethnic races, married or single – have said they richly benefitted from the seminar.   The vast majority rated it “Excellent” on the evaluation form each dad filled out.

Begun in churches, the seminar quickly spread to two other key types of organizations – the U.S. military and prisons.  By the end of 2016, Great Dads will have presented over 1,610 seminars in 45 states and 10 foreign countries.

The curriculum has been continuously updated – and upgraded – with the latest full scale updating in 2011.  At that time, a new Action Plan was developed and a totally new Action Plan for dads in prisons was introduced.
