Do you want greater family togetherness?  Feel the family is “too scattered?”

A great solution to this common parenting challege is to start a weekly family meeting.

We did this in our family when the kids were around 6 and 9 years old. We held it usually on Sundays – around 4 or 5 in the afternoon.

The kids loved it – and so did we.

What did we do?  Everyone around the circle shared what they were thinking about and what they were thinking about.  We also talked about people who were sick.  Carol and I shared whatever values we wanted them to learn – in a very kid-friendly fashion.

Then we closed in prayer – with EVERYONE praying.

This was one of my great thrills as a dad – to hear my children praying: for each other, for aunts and uncles, for friends who needed it.  And we always shared answers to our prayers, a great faith-building exercise in the kids.

The meetings took only 10 – 20 minutes.
